RON “teddy bear” KNIGHT


For over 40 years, Teddy Bear has been a longtime friend and mentor to Bill Smith.  In the early 60’s, he attended Compton High School and went on to star at Cal State L.A.  In 1970, Teddy Bear was drafted by the NBA Portland Trailblazers during their inaugural season , he also scored the 1st basket in their franchise history. Two years later, he joined icons Meadowlark Lemon and Curley Neal as a member of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters.  He was a member of the Harlem Globetrotters for 8 years.  Teddy Bear has been a staple at Bevwood Camp for 26 years, appearing as a guest speaker and mentor to thousands of youngsters.
